Veterinary Assistant

The Veterinary Assistant program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to help them obtain a job in a veterinary hospital. Students enrolled in this MCC dual enrollment online course will learn more about the veterinary assistant role as a valued member of the veterinary team. Students will get Real World Learning opportunities through on site experiences at Pawportunities.

Additional Course Information:

ANHS 100 - This course will prepare veterinary career students in professional ethics, laws, regulatory organizations, client relations, medical records, receptionist duties, breeds and breed characteristics, elective surgeries, puppy and kitten care, vaccination programs, wellness programs, senior care, nutrition, and office management.

ANHS 130 - Professional language of veterinary medicine.  Analysis of veterinary medical terms by roots and combining forms.  Disease processes, anatomy, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for each body system.  Selected veterinary medical specialties. 

These are asynchronous online courses.

  • 4 college hours - Metropolitan Community College (MCC) if College's Criteria are Met
  • ANHS 100 Introduction to Veterinary Practice Management (2 college hours)
  • ANHS 130 Veterinary Terminology (2 college hours)
  • This is a dual enrollment class.  Enrollment through cooperating college is required. 

High School Credits: 2.0 units

Fees:

  • $60.50 per college credit hour
  • Will be billed/paid through the Cooperating College Business Office
