Students enrolled in the Project Management program at the Career Innovation Center have achieved a major milestone this semester, earning their Project Management Ready certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI). The achievement was made possible through a partnership with the University of Central Missouri (UCM), providing high‑school students with college‑aligned career preparation and industry‑recognized credentials.
The certification, designed by PMI, introduces learners to project management fundamentals, agile frameworks, business analysis, and organizational strategy. For students at the Career Innovation Center, completing the coursework and passing the exam demonstrates not only technical proficiency, but also commitment to professional-level learning before graduation.
“This certification is a game changer for our students,” said CIC Director Andy Mayfield. “By combining our hands‑on curriculum with UCM’s academic support and PMI’s standards, our students are leaving with a credential that employers and colleges immediately recognize.”
For many students, the Project Management Ready certification marks their first experience earning an industry credential—an accomplishment that boosts confidence as much as it strengthens résumés.
