Dear CIC Community,

This week is full of movement and momentum at the Career Innovation Center as students dive into new projects and partnerships. Over in Digital Media, students are gearing up for their upcoming short film and recently visited one of their primary shooting locations at Blue Springs High School to begin planning their scenes.

Veterinary Assistant students have officially resumed their MCCKC coursework and are gaining valuable skills while lending a hand at Blue Springs Animal Control.

Our Introduction to Teaching students are making big strides as they work toward earning their substitute teaching certifications, an important milestone on their path into education.

Meanwhile, our Hospitality & Tourism Management students are collaborating with Blue Springs Parks and Recreation as they help design a teen‑only event planned for this spring.

It’s another inspiring week of creativity, partnership, and career-focused growth at the CIC!

Blue Springs Animal Control Recognized for Real‑World Learning Partnership

Blue Springs Animal Control was recognized this week at the Kauffman Foundation’s Real World Learning “Get on the Bus” event for its outstanding partnership with our Veterinary Assistant Program. Through this collaboration, students gain hands‑on internship experience that builds confidence and supports their exploration of careers in animal care. During the event, Sergeant Johnson spoke about the value of the partnership, noting that his team truly enjoys mentoring students. He shared that the experience is rewarding not only for the students but also for the Animal Control staff who are proud to help shape future professionals. We are grateful for community partners like Blue Springs Animal Control who help bring Real World Learning to life for our students every day.

A Big Thank You to Blue Springs 7 Brew!

Our Introduction to Teaching students and their mentor teachers received an energizing surprise this week, thanks to the generosity of our local Blue Springs 7 Brew. The 7 Brew team provided delicious drinks to our dedicated mentor teachers across the Blue Springs School District, helping us celebrate the vital role they play in guiding future educators. Their support added a fun boost to the day and reminded our mentors how appreciated they are. We are grateful for community partners like 7 Brew who invest in our schools and the next generation of teachers.

Thank you, 7 Brew, for your continued partnership and kindness!

Hospitality Students Partner with Parks & Recreation to Design Teen Spring Event

Hospitality students met with Blue Springs Parks and Recreation to help plan a teen only event for the spring. They met with the client to discuss needs, budget, supplies, etc and to ask questions and get feedback. After the meeting, students developed event concepts and presented their ideas. After the presentations, we had a great Q&A session with constructive feedback on each event. Parks and Recreation will select a winning proposal, and then we will collaborate with the students to plan and execute the actual event in March or April.
