Dear CIC Community,

It was an exciting week at the Career Innovation Center as our programs continued to shine and students stayed actively engaged in hands-on learning. One of the highlights was our teachers getting the chance to tour the brand‑new CIC building. Their enthusiasm was unmistakable as they stepped into the spaces that will soon become their new classrooms. Seeing the future labs, collaborative areas, and updated facilities made the move feel even more real. We’re thrilled for what’s ahead and grateful for the incredible staff who bring these programs to life every day.

Important Upcoming Dates:
  • March 16 - 20: No School, Spring Break
  • April 3 & 6: No School
  • April 7: Staff PD Day - No School for CIC Students

News this week:

Community Blood Center announces a blood drive at Blue Springs Career Innovation Center on Wednesday, April 1st, from 8 AM to 12 PM.

CIC Blood Drive Rescheduled to April 1st

Hands-On Learning Takes Flight in AIM Program

Students in the Aviation Institute of Maintenance program recently wrapped up the hands‑on portion of their Hydraulic Fluid and Line Fabrication unit. After an in‑depth study of regulations, the shift to practical shop work was a welcome change that helped reinforce their classroom learning. Students did an excellent job applying their skills during the fabrication process, gaining confidence through real-world practice. Next, the class will move into Human Factors, a universal concept that is essential for understanding why mistakes occur and how to prevent them. This foundation will prepare students for their upcoming unit on Ground Handling, where safety principles take center stage.

Surgical Technology Students Build Core OR Skills Ahead of Career Expo

The students currently in the Surgical Technology course have gained an overview of surgical technology, learned the profession’s origins, the surgical technologist’s duties in preparing the sterile field and supporting the surgical team, and basic aseptic technique to prevent infection. They reviewed the roles of OR team members, the typical operating room workflow, professional standards, education and certification pathways, and the importance of ongoing skill development. The students will participate in the upcoming MCC- Health Science Institute Career Expo on February 25th.

Educational Support Careers Students Make a Big Impact in Prime Time Program

Students in our Educational Support Careers class are making a meaningful impact this semester by assisting with the Prime Time before‑school program at our elementary sites. Working closely with their CIC instructor, Mrs. Oliver, these students help lead activities, support young learners, and create a positive start to the school day. This hands-on experience gives them authentic insight into the teaching profession while also providing much‑needed support for our elementary staff. We are proud of their professionalism, leadership, and willingness to serve our youngest learners. Their work truly demonstrates the power of real-world learning in action.
