CIC Weekly Update

Career Growth Starts Here -- Every Week

A modern, open-plan collaborative space with people working and relaxing.

Dear CIC Community,

It’s an exciting week at the Career Innovation Center as our students dive deeper into hands‑on learning and real‑world experiences. Our Introduction to Teaching students continue their placements with mentor teachers, strengthening their classroom skills and building confidence in their developing instructional styles.

The Digital Media program kicked off its first Film Club at BSHS, drawing more than 25 enthusiastic students who gathered to learn about the club and map out creative plans for the semester.

Business Accelerator students began their next round of client-connected projects, starting in the empathy phase as they work to truly understand the needs and goals of those they’ll be serving.

Meanwhile, Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy students partnered with Josh Agee, physical therapist and owner of Optimize Rehab and Performance, to support a client-focused branding project centered on outcome measures.

With so many authentic learning opportunities happening across our programs, it’s clear our students are building skills that will carry them far beyond the classroom.

Empathy in the Workplace Inspires Career Internship Students

Career Internship Experience students recently participated in an engaging workplace‑empathy session led by Mrs. Stonner, Real World Learning Instructional Coach. She shared practical strategies to help students strengthen communication, build trust, and form positive relationships at their internship sites. Students left the session better prepared to collaborate effectively and make a meaningful impact in their roles.

Sports Medicine & Health Science Classes Complete CPT Training

Students from the Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy class teamed up with the Health Science Accelerated class recently for hands-on training in life‑saving skills. Through the collaborative program, students successfully completed their CPR certification, gaining confidence and readiness for real‑world medical scenarios. This partnership not only strengthened students’ clinical skills but also highlighted the importance of cross‑disciplinary learning in health science education. Our school is proud of these students for taking an important step toward future careers in healthcare.

Building Futures: JE Dunn’s CIC Internship Guides Student’s Career Path

A student in the Career Internship Experience program is gaining valuable real‑world experience through an internship with JE Dunn at the CIC construction site. This opportunity has given the student a deeper understanding of the construction management field, from project planning and safety practices to teamwork on a large job site. As a result, the experience has helped the student clarify their career goals and plans after high school. Big thanks to JE Dunn for their amazing partnership and providing this valuable experience to our student.
